What We Learned At The TecHome Conference
Like the video points out (which was produced for EDS), the amount of technology that is coming at us in our industry gives us that “Herding Cats” feeling………..
At risk of making light of our industry and the state of affairs that it has just undergone, it’s ironic that the “Smart Home” is finally beginning to take off for our home builder friends. After all, they just have to ramp-up their staffing after the greatest real estate down-turn in home building history, adjust to lower gross profit margins, and begin to navigate this labyrinth of technology that is coming at us at break neck speeds…..simple, right?
Heck, no wonder I saw the “deer in the headlights” look in some of our friend’s eyes. We’ve been plugg’n away at this category for many years, eating and breathing lighting, electrical, and home technologies. My head was spinning too. They also have to be concerned with a multitude of other areas of home building, and still keep up with this segment. This further strengthens our convictions that having a specialist such as ourselves, that focuses on the design, sales, and documentation of technology options is the right business model for us as a company.
One of our alliance partners, Leviton Manufacturing, has acquired a very well known home automation company called Home Automation Incorporated. This combined with other related cool products they offer has positioned both of our companies on the forefront to help provide our builders key optimized solutions. That being, the right products and sales experience to offer to their home owners.
Cool Products? – You BET!
This is a motion sensor with a dimmer tied into it. So, when you have a powder room tied into a motion sensor, it won’t kick the lights up to 100%. Now, you can create both an energy efficient space that has warmth to it also!
